Martinsburg. Near Gerrardstwon. Also called Mill Creek. Octagon house.
Built in 1879-80 by John W. Wiest for John McKown.
Purchased by the National Fruit Company and
reportedly moved to an unknown site. An old photo shows it as two stories with
a widow's walk on the roof. Originally vertical board exterior, the boards
were later replaced with horizontal boards. The home had a one
wall frame porch on the front. The windows were all 4-payne, one per side, and the
cornice held brackets. Gerrardstown was in Southern Berkeley County.
